Imperfectly Good

Pictures of the things discipline me wants to do

Pictures of me lacking discipline
Taking these picture we part of the fun of skip day.

After all the de-cluttering we did before the move and the fact that I am still not finished. I found the perfect spot for our bread maker that meets all the criteria for being in my home.
1. It has a permanent home.
2. Can be used where it is.
3. Is easy to use every day. Wish all my appliances where this easy to use.

Unfortunately the waffle maker was not so luckily. We all agreed that we are not waffle people and are sending it to Goodwill. The Boys did agree that brownies, breads and cake batter placed in the waffle maker were good. We are just not waffle people.
The new rule of thumb: if we do not use it, it must go.

Is it just me, or is she plotting?

Want these recipes leave a comment and I will post them for you.

Letting Go

Luke 6:37
Do not judge, and you will not be judged?
Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned.
Forgive, and you will be forgiven.

What makes us judges of another person or their choices?

Why did God command us not to judge?

I have been thinking about this as I mediate on the command to Love. The greatest commandment is the command to love. Ever feel loved when being judge. I know that my boys do not feel very loved when they are judge. Most of our judging is based in comparison. We compare one thing to another instead of rejoicing in the individuality of those around us.

Different does not mean inferior or wrong.

God gave us all different choices and abilities and we should choose to embrace them.

We cannot have a 1 Corinthians 13 love and be judges.

In Corinthians we are told that LOVE:

--BEARS all things, meaning that love takes carries us when we need it too and takes responsibility for our short comings.

 1 Peter 4:8
Above all, love each other deeply,
because love covers over a multitude of sins.

--BELIEVES all things, meaning that it feels sure that someone is capable of a particular action. We believe the best of the people we love, even when they fall short in the eyes of others. We cannot believe in someone if we are comparing him or her to others.

 1 John 3:18
Dear children,
let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.

--HOPES all things, meaning that we expect the best and are willing to pray for the individual, and teach or wait for the Lord’s intercession. This is a hope of God working in the individual's life.

 Romans 5:5
this hope will not lead to disappointment.
For we know how dearly God loves us,
because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.

--ENDURES all things, meaning to suffer patiently. Suffer patiently tells me that when I have a self-sacrificing love, that I am patient even when others are watching.

 Romans 12:12
Rejoice in hope,
be patient in tribulation,
be constant in prayer.

This is an area in my life where I need consistent reminders that Love never fails. Our love for others inspires us to action and a biblical love can never fail us.

Pride is the contradiction of love. Pride sets its self above others. We want to be the best mother, wife, teacher, friend and the list goes on. Being the best does not let us live out Philippians 4.

  • Whatever is true,
  • Whatever is noble,
  • Whatever is right,
  • Whatever is pure,
  • Whatever is lovely,
  • Whatever is admirable,
  • Whatever is excellent or praiseworthy, about the people God has place in your life,

 —think about such things.

And to make sure you are thinking about those things here is a way to make your list.

My verse for today is from Psalm 31:24

Be strong and take heart,
all you who hope in the Lord.

I just love the message of this verse and I so need the courage to be strong and take heart.

Last week blog roll:
7. I missed a post this week. My booking through Thursday post. I love books and need to commit to my reading time.

4. Updating my pray list.
Praying for friends who have needs.
Praying for the women in Group 95 Hello Morning Challenge.
God to open my eyes to the learning and growing opportunities before me.
The continual softening of my children's hearts
For the new relationships that we are all building and that we are all open to sharing our hearts and lives.

5. As an AC for the Hello Morning Challenge with Inspired to Action I will be sharing a verse from Psalms each day that goes with the Run to Him bible study. This week Psalms are 27, 31, & 16.

6. My focus scripture for this week is from Romans. I am falling more and more in love with the comfort that is Romans.

Romans 5:5And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.

I am using the New Living Translation because of it says that Hope will not lead to disappointment. How many times do we feel disappointed because we waited for something and we never achieved it? Our HOPE in God will never disappoint us because he dearly loves us. Is there anything more comforting? In the unsteadiness of my current seas I choose to cling to this HOPE that will not disappoint me.

7. This week I will try to finish reading:   My basic goal for the year is to finish reading a book per week.

8. Make posters for the following scriptures
Psalm 121:8the LORD will watch over your coming
and
going both now and for evermore.
1 Corinthians 13:7-8LOVE: bears all things,
believes all things,
hopes all things,
endures all things.Love never fails.
Proverbs 20:11Even a child is known by his actions,
by whether his conduct is pure and right.
Deuteronomy 28:6You will be blessed when you come in
and
blessed when you go out.
Colossians 3:23Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart,
as working for the Lord, not for men
Psalm 37:7Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when men succeed in their ways,
when they carry out their wicked schemes.
Luke 6:37Do not judge, and you will not be judged?
Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned.
Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
Psalm 34:14Turn from evil and do good;
seek peace and pursue it.
9. Organizing the boys play room, mainly for our eight year old. Letting him enjoy beginning 8 has been heavy on my heart. Spent more time playing with and reading to him, than actually organizing but that was more important.

10. Taking the picture and creating a change of address card. This is becoming more of a dream than a goal but I will make one more attempt this week.
What are your choices for this week? Leave me a comment.

Homemakers January Editorial

Good Morning Saturday, another busy weekend is before me and it totally escaped me that My monthly editorial over at Homemakers Challenge is posting today. Please check out my post called

What to Do With Those Photo Christmas Cards: Storybook Frames it is such a pleasure to work among these lovely ladies.

Here is a little excerpt:
Last year after the holidays, I wanted a fun way to display all my Christmas Photo cards. They were just randomly stuck to my refrigerator; and although I love them all, it was just a tremendous mess.
This was my moment of inspiration where I created a scrapbook story page for my refrigerator.
As always please let me know what you think in the comment on either site.

Running to Him

Let's face it, the last few months I have felt lost. As everyone else was planning their goals and preparing for 2012 I just was not. I was amazed my all the wonderful blog plans and even the plans of the people in my life. People kept asking me did I have a plan for the year, goals for me, my marriage, the children, and my life but I did not and do not.

Have I created goals for my blog, no!
Have I created goals for me, no!
Have I created goals for my marriage, no!
Have I created goals for my children, no!

What will I choose to do in these areas of my life for 2012? I do not know, but I have chosen to Run to Him. I will get up every morning and put God first.

What have I learned so far from putting Him first?

From Psalm 143 I have learned:

5 I remember the days of long ago;
I meditate on all your works
and consider what your hands have done.

What has God done from me? As I have meditated on all His works, He has reminded me that our family has gone through a major change. Instead of lofty goals and the added stress of accomplishing a lot, we just need time to adjust and be with each other.
‎6 I spread out my hands to you; I thirst for you like a parched land.
I so need to seek Him right now. I am so parched and drained incapable of producing anything. The last two months have drained me both emotionally and physically. I need to replenish my cups with His Words and rest.
8 Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love,
for I have put my trust in you.
Show me the way I should go,
for to you I entrust my life.

As I continue to trust in Him, He will guide me in the way I should go. God will narrow down my choices and let me see the good things I can accomplish in 2012. But First, I need to be filled with His Word.
10 Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground.
My focus has been on getting settled. Tomorrow will be four weeks we have been in our home. They are still many things that need to be done in order for me to have the order I so crave and probably need in order to function well. I will get my act together but not without God showing me His will and bringing balance to my life. I have added verse ten to my prayer scriptures for 2012. I want to do God's will and have Him balance my life.
11 For your name’s sake, LORD, preserve my life;
in your righteousness, bring me out of trouble.
David closes Psalm 143 by asking God to preserve his life and to bring him out of trouble. In our high tech fast pace world is this not something we all need. God preserve the things that matter most and bring our family through the trouble times.

One of the great things about God's Word is that we learn different things from a passage each time we read them. This is just some of what God placed on my heart after studying Psalm 143 for a week. Next week I will mediate on either 27, 31, or 16 Psalm.

I am in what seems like a strange season of life. My hearts longs for a quieter season. I know with God we can narrow down and find the peace but working through the chaos also challenges our hearts.

Choosing to put my personal relationship with God first.
What are you choosing to put first?
Or share with me in the comments what you are learning in this season?

Doing Well?

We are at the beginning of a new adventure and with all great adventure comes change. How does one hold on to the things that matter most when they are so many new things to choose from?

New things are not all bad. Unfamiliar things can bring grow and show us where we are weak. Tonight we added something new. A concept that had not dawned on us before. We added individual family pray to our dinner hour. Now each family member gets an opportunity to pray so that we can all grow closer together.

We can do everything okay or we can choose to do a few things well. I am thankful that the Lord blessed me with these wonderful boys and has lead me to make mothering and spending time with them one of my few things.

They are many good we can choose to do but for me the best will always be the time spent with my boys.

I am grateful that the Good Spirit lead me to take our prayer times to a whole new dimensions. I continue to pray that He leads me to always be proud of my choice to me a wife and mother first.

What are you choosing to do well?

Rejoicing Children

Working on spending more fun time with My Boys. They are growing up so fast.
I am learning to play video games. I have mastered one game and raised Rio who is now one. I did such a good job with my Chao, he has entrusted me with two more. Probably way too much time but I am happy to be enjoying what he enjoys.
Finally made the fort with the boxes they had me keep from our move. It is amazing that they enjoy playing and sitting inside a box. They are still my little boys.
I had forgotten how much fun it is to play trains with them. I am glad that we have the room again to set up the track and play together.

And we ended the day reading

This was the good that comes after God gets through mixing all my experiences together. He has taken the bitter, the sweet, the happy, the sad and mixed them together to give me the opportunity to appreciate these moments. When we trust in Him, it all leads to the good.

Favorite with Practical

I wanted to share a song I loved singing to the boys when they were little and it still comes to my mind. When they are filled with gloom.

My mommy told me something
that little boys should know
It's all about the devil
and I've learned to hate him so
She said he causes trouble
when you let him in the room
He will never ever leave you
if your heart is filled with gloom

So let the sun shine in
face it with a grin
Smilers never lose
and frowners never win
So let the sun shine in
face it with a grin
Open up your heart and let the sun shine in

When you are unhappy,
the devil wears a grin

But oh, he starts to running
when the light comes pouring in
I know he'll be unhappy
'Cause I'll never wear a frown
Maybe if we keep on smiling
He'll get tired of hanging 'round.

If I forget to say my prayers
the devil wears a grin

But he feels so awful awful
when he sees me on my knees
So if you're full of trouble
and you never seem to win,
Just open up your heart and let the sun shine in.

So let the sun shine in
face it with a grin
Smilers never lose
and frowners never win
So let the sun shine in
face it with a grin
Open up your heart and let the sun shine in!

A small reminder that when we choose to be unhappy in words, thoughts, or deeds we are inviting the devil in. No matter our path or situation in this life we can rejoice because we know that we have a home somewhere beyond the blue with Jesus. That is by far the greatest reason to always be happy.

Romans 8: 31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?

After a rough day read Romans 8 and be reminded by Paul that God is for us. He gave his son, for us and so we can rejoice.
Choosing to rejoice today.

Psalm 4:8
8 In peace I will lie down and sleep,
   for you alone, LORD,
   make me dwell in safety.
I love this scripture. So often we put our safety in the hands of people and the things we do. Did I lock the door? Do I have my keys? Virus programs to protect our identity and our children. When only God can make us dwell in safety.
