Welcome, I have joined with 21 amazing bloggers to bring you different perspectives on choosing
in your life's journey.
We all agree that exercise is important for our minds, body and spirit but finding simple ways to incorporate fitness into our busy days can be challenging.
A good example of this is my neighbor. She has a gym membership, which she is paying for and even allows her to bring a friend. Yet, she never finds the time to attend.
My Motivation:
Simple solutions come when we choose to eliminate the time it takes to drive to and from the gym. Or choose to avoid purchasing expensive exercise equipment.
The main equipment required for these exercises are available in your home:
- Sneakers
- Weights for which you can use Water bottles (Reusable are fine) or can goods, even bags of flour, the options are endless.
- Stairs, a step or stool
- A body to move for the Glory of God
Simple choices for adding thirty minutes of exercise to your daily routine:
1. Walk for 30 minutes each day
You can walk for thirty minutes first thing in the morning or last thing in the evening. Just open your front door and walk around your neighborhood. You might even make a few friends.
If you cannot invest thirty minutes all at once you can walk for ten minutes before or after your meals. (Morning, Lunch, Dinner)
When I would take the boys to the park to play. I would just walk around on the equipment for thirty minutes. They got thirty minutes of exercise and so did I. Parks or not meant for sitting.
On rainy days you can walk around your home for ten minutes intervals, who said, pacing is bad, its exercise.
To add strength training, carrying a bottle or can of food that weights sixteen ounces or more while you are walking for thirty minutes.
2. Go up and down your stairs for 30 minutes
You can do this at once or in ten minutes intervals. For this exercise you do not really need a set of stairs, it can be done with one step or a step stool.
To include your upper body just carry two pounds of weight while moving your arms. Carrying groceries is a great upper body work out.
While doing your stepping on the stool you can also catch a 30 minute cartoon with the kiddo.
3. Do jumping jacks
Jumping jacks are the cheapest totally body workout. Jumping helps us build strong bones as your own weight provides the resistance. Your totally body is automatically involved in your workout. Jumping jacks gives a great cardio workout.
Doing thirty minutes of jumping jacks is not wise but doing six five minutes intervals through out the day is recommended. If you are now starting out with exercise get your body adjusted to doing the five minutes intervals when those become easy do 10 minutes three times a day.
When the boys were little I included them in my exercise routine whenever possible. While I did 5 minutes of jumping jacks six times a day. I had them doing 10 jumping jacks six times a day.
Before breakfast
Before morning snack
Before lunch
Before afternoon snack
Before dinner
Before bed
The simple part is it gets your children involved in exercising early keeps them exercising for life. Now we have challenges to see who can complete the most, they will beat me some day, just not quite yet.
